United Sustainable Energy Agency has been working with Chiltern District Council to implement a large Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) project at the council's offices in Amersham.
USEA was commissioned by the council in August 2011 to undertake a detailed feasibility study to identify the potential for a PV system on the main council offices. USEA's feasibility study analysed different PV technology options available, calculated the total optimal installed capacity along with different investment and return scenarios. The study also identified:
• Potential PV modules layout
• Module mounting
• Detailed estimated budget
• PV Distribution Boards specification
• Inverter selection
• Proposed PV system energy performance
• Proposed a PV generation monitoring system
• Distribution Network Operator (DNO) connection specifications
By conducting this detailed analysis, USEA provided the council with a complete impartial analysis of PV potential for the council building and its technical details. This enabled the council to effectively and quickly proceed in the tendering process and contract a PV installing company.
Installation of the system started in December 2012, and the new 49.9 kWp PV project was commissioned on 02 March 2012 making it eligible for pre 03 March 2012 Feed in Tariffs.
