Householders take advantage of the last few weeks of free insulation

Cocoon's free insulation offer has attracted a lot of interest so far with more than 1200 customers registering their interest since its launch in May 2012.

The offer is available to all homeowners and private tenants in England and offers free cavity wall insulation and free loft insulation where the existing level of insulation in the customer's loft is less than 60mm thick.

For those customers who have more than 60mm existing and want to top it up to the government approved level of 270mm there is a fee of just £159.  A survey is free and no obligation, which has encouraged customers to apply in order to check that their property is suitable completely free of cost.

Customers have just six weeks left to apply for the free insulation before the government funding which makes the deal possible is withdrawn so Cocoon and their partners are urging people to get online or on the phone as soon as they can to make sure they don't miss out.

Carolyn Kempster, USEA's Consumer Services Manager says "the free offer is such a great deal that the high levels of interest have come as no surprise.  I would urge anyone who isn't sure whether they have cavity wall insulation or the right amount of loft insulation to get onto our website or call our friendly team and refer themselves.  There's nothing to lose by getting a free survey".

Once the deal ends it is highly unlikely to be repeated as the government is due to launch its flagship Green Deal in October 2012 which replaces the funding which makes free insulation possible.  The Green Deal is based around a loan system where energy efficiency improvements such as these types of insulation will be paid for as a loan through customer's energy bills.

USEA expects that the high level of customer interest will continue right up until the end of the offer on 30th September.  The offer has been a great success so far in getting people insulated for free, helping them reduce their bills and improve their home comfort.
