The Milton Keynes boiler cashback scheme has been set up to encourage Milton Keynes residents to replace their old, inefficient boiler with a new, A-rated boiler by offering a financial incentive.

The aims of the scheme are to:

• support the local economy
• reduce fuel poverty
• reduce carbon emissions in Milton Keynes

The boiler cashback scheme is being financed by the Carbon Offset Fund, a Milton Keynes Council initiative funded by developers in the area and managed by United Sustainable Energy Agency (USEA).

The scheme is available to all homeowners and private landlords who own properties within Milton Keynes Council’s area.

A £150 cashback payment is available for replacing an old, inefficient gas, oil or LPG boiler (rated D or below) with a new, energy efficient boiler. The old boiler is eligible whether in a working condition or not. Only installations completed by a Gas Safe registered installer will be eligible.

An application form will be issued to you within two weeks and an expiry date, 4 months after issue, will be given on the application form.

You can then select your preferred Gas Safe registered (or competent person in the case of oil) installer to carry out the work. The installer will have to certify that the boiler being removed is D rated or below, providing the make and model of the boiler on the application form. The new A-rated boiler will have to be installed with a full set of controls (if not already installed).

Once the installation has been completed, you must send the completed application form, along with a copy of the installation certificate signed by the installer, to USEA. The date of the installation must be clearly visible on the installation certificate.

Once details have been checked and approved, a BACS payment will be made to you within one month.

This grant is available together with any other grants or discounts you may be entitled to.

Please note that no grants will be rewarded for installations which have taken place before the application date. Funds are limited and although there is currently no end date to the scheme, a review will take place regularly and alterations made accordingly.
